AGPtek%C2%AE Bluetooth CAN BUS Diagnostic Scanner

AGPtek%C2%AE Bluetooth CAN BUS Diagnostic Scanner

The bluetooth radio turns on immediately once plugged into port on vehicle. I got it to work on Oldsmobile, VW, and Ford. Assume it works on many more. The pairing code is 1234. Try pairing within a minute or two of plugging into vehicle this seems to help. If it doesn't pair the first time try again. Works great on jailbroken iPad and iPhone4 with iOS6. You have to install and purchase ROQYBT4 and ROQYODB from the cydia App Store. Otherwise the native iOS bluetooth stack can't pair with the ELM327. You should not have this problem with Android. I tried an iPhone5, but ROQY is not updated yet and does not work. Use the ROQY generic ODBII setting and it will connect right away via bluetooth. I purchased Dashcommand from the App Store. It connects to the the ELM327 via the ROQY app. ROQYBT4 forwards the bluetooth connection to IP 127.0.0.1 and port 35000 on your iOS device. You have to manually configure Dashcommand to connect via the IP and port. Once it does connect, everything in the Dashcommand app works as advertised. Of note you must turn your key to the on position once you want to connect Dashcommand. You can pair the device without the key turned on, but you can't connect to ODBII server.

Got it to pair with a macbook running OSX 10.8.2 but had trouble finding ODBII software that would detect the bluetooth to serial connection. I assume it would work fine with Windows XP and Windows 7 although I have not tried this.

If you don't have a jailbroken iOS device. I would suggest buying a WIFI ELM327 device. See Dashcommand for compatible devices.

  1. I bought this to use with the Android application Torque on my RAZR MAXX. Works very well, very fast at delivering data. Best thing is its small enough where I wouldn't kick it while driving (manual transmission) so I can read live data worry-free on the go!

  2. Length:: 6:05 Mins

    Received the unit 5 days after ordering from BrainyDeals out of NY. Came in a nice labeled box with a foam sleeve inside to protect it. I bought this to use with Torque on Android. Tested on 1997 Ford Taurus, 1999 Jeep Wrangler, 1999 Chevy Trailblazer(Blazer), works perfect. I even tried the Ford Extended PID's with my Taurus and it works 100%. Range is what is to be expected for Bluetooth, with my car doors closed I can walk away about 20-25 feet and maintain a perfect data stream. Not a single time-out or drop-out of the bluetooth connection to my Samsung Galaxy S (SCH-i500). I am more than impressed with this "Cheap China Elm327 Clone" that is so often warned about being incompatible with the genuine ELM327 Standard. It is the smallest unit I have came across, once plugged into the car it doesn't get in the way of your feet. I have had mine for about 4 days now and have left it plugged into a vehicle the whole time, battery drain seems nonexistent, though I wouldn't let the car sit with it plugged in for more than 2 weeks or so.

    UPDATE Oct 15 2012: I was so happy with my first unit that came from Brainydeal that I decided to order 8 more. Those 8 came from a company called Patazon, NONE of the units worked and after further investigation, the units from Patazon were completely different internals even though they looked the same on the outside until you look closely. Watch my Youtube video to see for yourself where I compare a Brainydeals Unit to the 8 that I bought from Patazon. ONLY BUY FROM BRAINYDEALS!!!!

    Link to my Youtube video about them: (Can't post links, so go to YouTube and search for my channel under the name of IMYOURGUILTYPLEASURE, or you can search Youtube for the name of the video which is "Patazon's Mini ELM327 Bluetooth doesn't work with Torque" and you will find a 2 Part video series that clearly shows the differences between the two different companies' units)

  4. Very pleased. Using it with Torque on my Samsung SIII. No issues at all. Plugged in, paired and enjoyed. I leave it plugged into the dash at all times, the little LED that stays on uses almost no energy at all. I imagine you would need to leave it plugged in for a year or more before it drained the battery to any level to be concerned about.

  5. I had this plugged in and functional on my 2013 Mustang, within a minute or two. Bluetooth connectivity to my 7 inch Dell Streak tablet was flawless. The free version of Torque was receiving info almost immediately. It actually took longer to leave my driveway and drive the two blocks to the highway than it did to set this up. I wholly recommend.

  6. Recieved the OBD-II reader today. My 2003 Ford Expedition was showing a service engine light. Plugged unit in, started the truck and linked it to the BlueTooth connection on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Pairing code is 1234.

    I had downloaded the Torque Pro app to my phone and used it to interface with the OBD-II reader.

    I read the code, it displayed the explanation of the code which was a evaporative fuel line leak aka, needed a new gas cap.

    I replaced the cap and cleared the error code while the engine was running and the code disappeared.

    Fantastic!

  7. Based on the reviews of this unit from Brainydeals I chose to buy this one even though there are some look-a-likes for a few dollars less. The unit connected immediately and works perfectly in both my '98 Jag XK8 and my '08 Jeep Commander. The pairing code is 1234 in case you're looking for it. I use the Torque Android app - no problems. Recommended!
