Great Sound, Low price

Pioneer TS G1644R Full Range Speakers

Pioneer TS G1644R Full Range Speakers

I replaced 10 year old factory speakers in my 2003 Nissan Altima doors with a pair of these Pioneer 1664R's. First I had them in there a week with the factory head unit. It took me 30 minutes to install both of them and I had not worked on a car speaker install in 30 years.
Nothing to it. I noticed an immediate gain in quality of sound, clarity and volume with the factory head unit. I would recommend them just for that.
The next week I installed a Kenwood DNX1690HD DVD Nav system and these speakers had no problems cranking out 50 watts per channel. With the added volume the clarity of the highs and mids was excellent, much better than with the factory head unit. The Kenwood has adjustable cross-overs and you can get quite a range out of these speakers. Great mid-tones and highs that I can't even hear at my age. The aftermarket head unit made these speakers sound as good as the Polk Audio Db651's and Alpine Type S speakers I listened to....at a fraction of the price. Low price doesn't mean low quality with these Pioneer speakers. Buy them and you will like them. I listen mostly to classic rock, metal, Zappa, Tool, Metallica type stuff. Let me tell you, these Pioneer speakers are holding their own against 1250 watts to 2 Cerwin Vega 12's in the trunk and a pair of Alpine SPS-619's in the rear deck. Can't beat that for the price.

  1. These have 4 mounting holes, and the door had only 3... but installed this in a 2002 Kia Spectra (front door) with the help of the Metra 82-7500 speaker adapters. I can't say that they sound amazing, but for the price, they do the job satisfactorily.

  2. They sound great especially the highs
bass is a little lacking but I think it has something to do with them being so shallow.
Overall a great speaker and would buy again.

  3. These speakers are a good part for my car system. Just powering them off the deck they get good sound quality and scream the highs. All in all im happy for the price I paid

  4. I have seen reviews saying that these speakers have no bass, and for some applications, that may be true. The one thing that can make car door speakers sound good or bad is the car door. thin doors on smaller cars will have a higher resonate frequency, resulting in poor bass response. While thicker doors like in pickups or s.u.vs have a lower resonate frequency, resulting in deeper bass. I have these speakers mounted in a custom made tuned port boombox with a small 20 watt per channel amp powered by a sealed lead acid battery and it has a great lower mid bass punch that can be felt from about 20 ft away, but not sub bass. However, I have played some subwoofer tests on it and these speakers will respond down to about 30 hz but they hit hard at about 55-60hz with a smooth roll off. The highs are crisp and clear, mids are decent, could be better, nothing an eq can't fix. If you are thinking about buying some cheap off brand speaker instead, think again, I bought these for 29.99 from 3 Kings Audio and they are a great value at that price.

  6. I had already installed an aftermarket radio into my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, however, shortly after I had installed the radio, I noticed that half my stock speakers were blown. I was on a budget and wanted something that sounded good and better than stock, yet still fit well and fit my budget. I came upon these and purchased two pairs to install into the doors of my Jeep. I didn't purchase the speaker adapters or wiring harnesses. Instead, I snipped off the factory wiring connectors and just spliced the factory speaker wiring directly to the TS-G1644R's. I also used self-tapping screws to drill new holes into my Jeep's doors to secure the speakers into the doors. The speakers fit well, and with a high power rating, they can handle a lot. You also can't notice them from behind my Jeep's door speaker grilles (this may be different for your vehicle), and I don't have to worry about turning the volume up and hearing old, crackly speakers buzzing in the doors! For the low price, if you're looking for a good set of 6X 1/2" speakers, buy these and you'll be more than satisfied. Highly recommended, and at a great price, too! (:

  9. Great speakers I bought them to replace my rear stock 95 Saturn speakers and they sound great. My favorite part is how loud and clear they are. One thing that bothered me was the lack of bass but besides that these things rock.

  10. Put them in the two front doors of my girl friend's civic. The old ones were blown and torn. Sound good with a 12" sub in the trunk.
