StrongArm 4642 Chevrolet Dropgate Support
What can I say about a gas-charged lift support, other than it does its job perfectly for my 1999 2-door Chevy S-10 Blazer at more than half the cost of OEM supports. Unfortunately for me, I had to buy these on a whim when the original supports completely lost their charge and continuously dropped the glass if left unattended. The icing on the cake was when it happened for the very last time and left the glass go when I had the lift gate down and SMASH - about a million glass pieces and left with a $500 deductible to get it replaced.
I bought and installed these StrongArm models as soon as I got the vehicle back from the glass shop, and like other reviewers have stated, the pistons are so strong that one lift support will completely hold up the glass let alone two. Despite having a different color piston arm (black OEM vs. chrome on StrongArm) they are an exact duplicate and work well as advertized. Installation was a snap, literally, in less than 5 minutes.
You cannot go wrong with these, just heed my unfortunate mishap and replace the supports when your glass no longer stays up on its own.
part was an exact fit for my Blazer - took all of 5 minutes to take off old one and clip this in - only replaced 1 of them and it works fine (I was too cheap to buy one for each side)

Did what it was supposed to do. Only had it for a couple months but it's going strong.Ba da da.
BalasHapusOrdered the struts and they shipped very quickly. Exact fit and 2 minute install - what a difference not having to hold up the glass while unloading items from the back. Good product and good price.
BalasHapusPerfect fit for my 2002 2 Dr. Blazer. The lifts look and fit exactly like the originals. Added a dab of grease to each ball for smoothness. When I unlatch the glass now, I raise it about 4 or 5 inches and it lifts the rest of the way by itself. Guess I had forgotten how nice it worked originally.
BalasHapusWonderful "quality" product. Very easy and fast install.
BalasHapusPerfect fit and works better than factory part when it was new.
Highly recommend this product!
The StrongArm glass lift support is a wonderful product. The installation on my dropgate glass above the rear tailgate door of my truck was simple. The product seems to be of exceptional quality and fitted perfectly. Now, after lifting the rear tailgate window about 7 inches, this lift support takes over and automatically lifts the rear window up under control the rest of the way. During the closing operation the hydraulics of this product firmly assists "you" for a firm tight seal of the rear window down on the tailgate. The Amazon price for the pair was more than fair and, of course, the delivery was quick.
BalasHapusA little heads up about the installation process if you please. I found that it is probably a good idea after removing the non-working lift supports to sand the ball joint aspects attached to the window of your vehicle (which may have some rust or debris accumulated) and, then, apply with, perhaps, a Q-tip some cup grease to them before installing the new lifts.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has even a rudimentary level of mechanical skill for installation. This product works!
This is an excellent replacement support for the rear glass hatch on 95-01 Blazers. As good or better than original and at a much lower price than my Chevy dealer. No longer getting hit in the head by the glass hatch (especially happens in cold weather with old lifts). I highly recommned these. Don't wait until you are injured by a dropping hatch.
