PURRFECT KAT TOY!

Accuracy Non Contact Infared Temperature Range

Accuracy Non Contact Infared Temperature Range

This is a pretty good infrared thermometer that rivals professional ones that cost many times more money (about $100 and more). It has a fixed value for the thermal emissivity while a professional one allows for an input value. Because of the natural variability of that value for different materials, the temperature readings from this thermometer can never be as accurate as better than a degree. However, that is usually good enough for checking around the house for drafty corners and thinning of insulation behind walls. The question about whether it is a 12 to 1 or 8 to 1 divergence for the detection cone is not essential for most applications that this infrared thermometer is good for around the house. I like the automatic off feature so that I don't have to remember turning it off. It does take almost a second for a reading to come up, So as you scan across a wall, move the laser beam slowly and stay at one spot long enough to get a true reading. The backlit light is very handy in dark corners too.

  2. I run a health care facility and I need to know temperatures of various things like hot water and refrigerators. This worked perfect and was cheap. I just needed basic. I checked the hot water dispenser and it read 140 degrees, this is exact. I checked the ice cream freezer, and it read -11. So the unit seems to be what I needed.

  3. This unit is exceptionally accurate - it showed absolutely the identical temperature measurements to the 1/10th of a degree when aimed at something as my "real" thermometer showed.

BEST OF ALL, the laser pointer makes an easy to hold and use KAT TOY!

It has the added benefit of being able to show when the kitty is getting overheated when playing.

  4. I am finding many uses of it - I measure the temperature on the disc brake and found out one of the disc caliper is frozen closed and hot. Other uses - measuring temperature of the freezer, find out how cold the beers became after leaving them outdoor in the deck (Boston winter), and how cold the basement bathroom tiles get in the winter. It seems accurate enough and can be switched between F/C with the press of a button. The blue LED black lighting is a very nice touch. I really like this purchase. My 10 years old daughter really loves to play with it too... especially with the laser pointer.

  5. Purchased this to keep at my house incase I need it for sub-cooling and super-heat readings on refrigeration systems.
At work, we use the Fluke 561 IR Thermometer. I brought my HDE temp gun to work to compare the accuracy to the Fluke and found them to be consistantly less than half a degree (F) difference between the 2 of them. The HDE is tiny compared to the fluke and doesnt have an input for a remote sensor, but I never use that anyway.
As a professional in the HVAC/R field, I highly recommend this HDE.
you could by 14 or 15 of these for the price you'd pay for one Fluke IR thermometer

  6. For a low budget contact thermometer it works out very well, has all the nice features, like lighted display, and turned itself off after a minute.

  8. There seem to be a bunch of these less expensive temperature readers and this was the most affordable of the bunch. It seems to work well at all temperatures and the backlight makes it EZ to see. This was purchased for general heat curiosity. First on my list of curiosities is the pellet stove. According to the device, its about 550 degrees Fahrenheit on the face window, and 240 at the top where the air comes out. No wonder the cat doesn't like it there! My dog is always about 65 degrees, very consistent. My refrigerator was actually too warm so I turned it down and now my food is lasting longer. Lots of fun and useful possibilities with this device.
