LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

The Style Checklist Ultimate Essentials

The Style Checklist Ultimate Essentials

This book is an excellent reference for classics that should be considered for every woman's wardrobe. Note that I say considered--each person has to look at her lifestyle to determine what works best for her. This being said, his choices are ones that have stood the test of time. He makes excellent recommendations for wardrobe combinations, using other pieces named in the book (or not). Almost every piece that is suggested can be found at any price range, with a few exceptions such as leather purses and well-made shoes, which will require a little more of an investment. The organization of the book was a plus as items were categorized according to activity--work, entertaining, play, etc. If a category doesn't apply, one can skim that chapter and move on. Pictures and written advice work together to give an easy understanding of how pieces can be used to make the most of a wardrobe. He rarely suggests one identical item that will work perfectly for every woman, but instead gives a list of possibilities for different body types. This book has a prized place in the very few books I keep on this topic.

  1. I've just bought this book and it is a wonderful tool and resource for image and style consultants. Thankfully I already have most of the items in the book. I've actually picked up some of the accessory items listed and they really do work with everything.
Lloyd Boston's own style is very clear, concise, and no nonsense.
    God bless your work!

  2. I'm a longtime follower and fan of Lloyd Boston. The Style Checklist is so on point...just like Lloyd. The book is clear, concise and imaginative. I peek through my copy often for tips and outfit combinations. I ended up purchasing ten for the Holiday Season. It's my gift of choice. I guess you could say that I'm turning into a "mini" style expert. I marked select pages and added my own personal note to girlfriends and family members to help get them off to a stylish new start. Thanks Lloyd!

Lloyd sure had a lot to live up to after his last two best-selling books, "Make Over Your Man" and "Before You Put That On." But I'm certainly not surprised that he once again produced a well thought out an beautifully photographed book which all women can use to help in building the ultimate wardrobe. For each item Lloyd has carefully picked for the list, he explains how to shop for it and how to wear it in a simple yet thorough way that makes it all "seam" so easy and fun! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and with the holiday season coming up I would absolutely suggest giving this book to any woman in your life, whether she has great style already or may need a little assistance. I recently saw Lloyd on The Nate Berkus Show giving tips on how to infuse the essential items into your wardrobe and he suggested wearing chic flats in a shiney or bright color, and not necessarily matching them exactly to your outfit or bag. I tried this tip and have never gotten so many compliments on my shoes before (even when wearing my most expensive heels!) I can't wait to see what Lloyd has up his stylish sleeve next!

  4. I just love this simple little book - sure, there are things in there I will never be able to afford, but the styles are simple enough to replicate and yet there is room to throw in your own creativity. After years of just carelessly buying items that I thought HAD to have right then and there, I am learning how to pare down my wardrobe to the types of basic pieces mentioned in this book and yet still have freedom to add my individual tastes. The book is a good portable size as well and is easy to throw in your purse to take with you when you go shopping. I know that by following this method of style I will end up saving money in the long run on my clothes- all while having fun with them!

  6. This book is clear, simple and spot on. Some fashion books are confusing and full of models. Not this one. This guy clearly loves the human form and has great respect for fashion. It's got organized sections so you can shop for the basics in the stage of life you are in and not feel like you have to tackle the whole book. He also makes age adjustment for many of the fashion items so you are always dressing the best at your age. He goes into pairing items that are natural partners. I went through the book and checked off which items I had in good shape and which I needed to get while out shopping. This simple approach curbs extra spending in the store. Goodbye expensive shopping distractions!!! Once you're done with getting the basics, you can go through and link up the items in your closet with his suggested pairings on each page to make your own style flip book. This gives you best matches from your own closet ready to go in a pinch and yet you look like your stylist put you together! THE best book on fashion and getting your closet straight I've ever seen. Nicely done.
