This Valkyrie will soar into your heart.

Bandai Macross Hi Metal VF 19S Valkyire

In Macross 7, this Valkyrie is piloted by ace pilot Lt. Docker of the Battle Seven fleet's elite Emerald Force. This 1/100 toy is an absolutely excellent representation of the VF-19S Blazer Valkyrie from the show.

Fighter mode holds together very well. It's very accurate to the line art, and is extremely detailed. There is even a small figurine of Docker visible in the cockpit. All the limbs tuck away neatly and the whole thing looks very sleek. There are some issues where not everything lines up perfectly, and occasionally the shoulders pop up off the back of the legs, but these are minor nitpicks and do not take away from the enjoyment of the fighter. There are no integrated landing gears, but this is alright since it makes for a nice sleek and smooth underside. Landing gears are included as a part of the stand, and the fighter sits neatly on top of it, and looks pretty good. The only major gripe with fighter mode is that there's no way for the fighter to have the gunpod attached.

Gerwalk mode is excellent. It transforms smoothly, and looks very good once finished. The metal in the feet gives the Gerwalk mode very good standing stability. The lower legs could angle forward a bit more to be more anime/art accurate, but it still looks quite good and is quite functional. The leg and arm articulation are great. The body holds together very well when in Gerwalk mode, which is a one-up on the Yamato YF-19. The only downside is that to attach the hands, you need to remove two vent covers on the arms. Once you do this for the first time, you can just discard the vent covers if you want and leave the hands attached in all 3 modes, and it looks perfectly fine.

Battroid mode is absolutely amazing. The transformation is smooth yet again, except for one panel near the head which has to be removed, but isn't necessary for the other 2 modes. You can completely discard it if you want, for a perfect transformation. The articulation is impressive to say the least. Head articulation could be better, but can be slightly improved by filing down the underside of the chin a bit. Everything holds together very solidly. The only downside is that there's a lot of gaps in the legs, but Bandai has supplied with filler pieces if you wish to remedy this. I don't really bother, because I think it looks fine without them. All the joints are nice and tight, and hold poses very well.

All in all, this is an excellent Valkyrie that's very much worth the money spent on it. If you're a fan of Macross 7, or a fan of the VF-19 design, this VF-19S Blazer Valkyrie is a must-have for your collection. BOMBA!!
