ISLAND SMUGGLERS Cooper Adventure ebook

ISLAND SMUGGLERS Cooper Adventure ebook

My Review:
What can I say except the story is about a little boy that is always on the move because of his Dad's work. He never gets to live in one place over two years, this move carried him down to Miami Fla. where his Dad will be working on the environment on the everglades. Sam does not want to move when the first Sunday they were there in the church he meet these other two boys and one of them was a son of a rich man and he thought he was the BIG BOSS.

Oh what these three young boys get into, Sam was always taught to mind his parents and do the right thing but sometimes, prer pressure gets to him and he does something that he didn't tell his parents about and this really could have cost the boys their lives. Three smart boys here that knew how to take care of themselves when their lives were at risk.

  2. If you are looking for a book for a young boy aged 9--13, check out Lost Island Smugglers. The first installment in a new series by Max Elliot Anderson, the book follows the adventures of Sam Cooper and his two new friends, Tyler and Tony. Follow the boys on a scuba adventure that leaves them marooned on a deserted island. As they draw on their survival skills, the boys face an even greater danger when they discover the island is not so deserted but is actually the lair of drug smugglers.

Lost Island Smugglers is a quality book full of family values that will keep your preteen boy entertained.

  3. Lost Island Smugglers by Max Elliot Anderson is about Sam Cooper and his family's latest move. Sam's dad's job has them moving frequently. While Sam has learned to adjust and makes friends quickly, it's hard to leave relationships behind over and over. When the Cooper family visits a local church, Sam meets two boys who seem to know how to find all the excitement. Tony's dad owns the marina and Tyler is Tony's sidekick. After getting all three boys free scuba lessons, Tony borrows one of his dad's boats so he and his friends can do some real scuba diving. The boys learn a lot about themselves as well as a few secrets of the island that someone else wants kept secret.

Growing up I loved reading Hardy Boys (preferred them over Nancy Drew) and this reminded me of a Christian contemporary version of Hardy Boys. There is definitely action, adventure and suspense for both boys and girls 8-12 years.

  4. This is the best book I've ever read in my life. My favorite parts are:

#1 The high speed chase when Sam, Tyler and Tony are chased by the men in large black coats.

#2 The deadly storm when the boat rips in two.

#3 When Sam, Tyler and Tony wash up on Lost Island.

#4 When Sam, Tyler and Tony take a ride in the submarine.

The pictures are awesome and give me a good view of the things in Lost Island Smugglers. I will tell all my friends about it.

  5. Sam Cooper is moving again because his Dad's work as a research biologist takes the family to new exciting places, this time to the Florida Everglades. But the hard part is making friends and having to leave them, although Sam has no problem with that part of the move. If anything, his friends have a harder time because Sam's a fun and reliable guy; he's used to leaving but they're not used to losing friends. On arrival to his new home, he quickly makes friends with a very funny "doughnuts" story.

Next thing that happens very quickly is that Sam is invited to learn scuba diving for free as his friend's father owns a marina and rents boats and equipment. Sam, Tony, and Tyler quickly master this sport which they all love. Pretty soon they are ready to go beyond the training area, but they are about to explore where it's dangerous to go!

Sam is having plenty of scary dreams about diving, especially now they are going out for their first solo dive, a fact that Sam has neglected to tell his parents. Off they go on a catamaran, which is a totally new experience for Sam, riding along with the motor to propel them instead of the wind and using sails to course through the water. An unexpected storm is about to turn their plans haywire, and they wind up on Lost Island, unable to leave and unprepared with no food or shelter. That's nothing compared to what they soon see on the island, some mysteriously-dressed men who don't look very friendly and who are taking extra care to hide a secret.

Lost Island Smugglers grips the reader's interest and continues to hold it until the very last page. Max Elliot Anderson describes the boys' adventures so realistically that the reader feels like he or she is right there participating. This novel, which is part of the "Sam Cooper Adventure" series is a terrific addition to the exciting books Anderson continues to write for young adults! Very nicely done, Mr. Anderson!

  6. I thoroughly enjoyed "Lost Island Smugglers" by gifted Author Max Elliot Anderson. This fictional novel reminds me of my youth and the pleasure I received in reading both the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mystery series. My twelve year old grandson would be intrigued by the adventure that Sam Cooper and his two new friends, Tony and Tyler, face in this well-written suspense novel.

Sam Cooper is an eleven year old boy who moves around more than the average boy of his age. His father is a biologist and must go where his job takes him. This occurs more than Sam likes. His latest move takes him to Harper's Inlet in Florida and once again Sam must seek out new friends. He does so at Sunday School where he meets up with Tony and Tyler. Tony's father owns a marina and many opportunies arise for the boys to spread their wings. After taking scuba diving lessons, they decide to venture out into the ocean on their own and put their skills to the test. An unexpected storm is brewing and the three boys manage to survive and end up on Lost Island. The adventure that ensues is most enjoyable and sure to capture the hearts of many younger readers.

There is an added thread throughout this novel, that intertwines lessons to be learned, as well as the importance of morals and values in the lives of these youngsters. "Lost Island Smugglers" can be seen as a valuable educational tool in teaching these ethics as well as stressing the role parent's play in shaping the lives of their children. I'm sure many young boys and girls can identify with the desire to be popular with their friends and the tendency to be disobedient to their parents in order to attain that popularity. Sam is faced with this challenge. This thought-provoking novel, demonstrates the sometimes peril consequences of ignoring the warnings of concerned parents. The illustrations in this book also add to the reading pleasure of the young audience it will appeal to.

I received this novel as a free Kindle download.

  7. Prolific author Max Anderson is trying a traditional three-book series this time, with another story written especially for boys. But girls will love it too. As usual, the story reads like a scary movie.

Sam Cooper's moving again because his father's job demands it. He makes friends with Tony and Tyler, and gets involved with scuba diving because Tony's father owns a sailboat service. The boys cannot resist going on a diving adventure, without permission. The biggest storm of the century wrecks their boat and strands them on an island. They soon discover they are not the first to camp here. Danger, excitement and heart-pounding action continue as the three friends figure out how to stop the criminals who have dug in on the other side of the island, and escape danger. All without telling their parents, they hope.

As usual, Anderson injects strong principles to live by in a way that children can understand.

  8. Stranded on a desert island, survival first comes to mind, and dealing with those smugglers isn't too far down the list. "Lost Island Smugglers" is an exciting juvenile novel following Sam Cooper and his friends as a boat trip goes awry and they find themselves on a seemingly deserted island. But the previous occupants aren't friendly, as they aren't fond of their operation being found. "Lost Island Smugglers" is an exciting read that younger readers will relish.
